Many of us find ourselves confused by the marketing hype surrounding different fitness classes and their benefits or we feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice from friends, influencers, and fitness authorities. Today, we'll demystify the world of fitness classes and help you make informed choices that cater to your unique needs. I'm here to break it all down for you, helping you understand which class or training method aligns best with your individual goals

Most classes are there to kick your ass. They're there to make you sweat like crazy. be really sore, which technically means, from a fitness professional side, that you did a lot of cardio and you overtrained.

 If you're super hella sore for several days after a class, that didn't mean it was a badass workout; that meant that it overtrained you.

When you're burning calories doing cardio, you're only burning those calories while you're doing that cardio; afterwards, you have zero afterburner effect. Whereas with strength training and other strength training based classes, you get the afterburn effect where you metabolically have a spike in more calories burned, especially because bodies that have more muscle burn more calories at rest.

I would just say I wouldn't exceed two to three cardio centric fitness classes a week. And you should never be doing it with the goal of fat loss.

You're only going to look the way that your genetics is going to let you look.

You need to progressively add more weight every week or every month to achieve a stronger body with bigger muscles because you have to tell that muscle why the heck it needs to get bigger. It will not get bigger if it doesn't have a reason to.

There are CrossFit classes and circuit boot camp classes that want you to simultaneously lift heavy and do it fast. That is where you get into an injury zone. 

You're going to get the best body shaping results and accountability out of working with small group training or private training with a professional that is qualified. 

I know a lot of people get afraid. They think “Well, I'm going to hurt myself because I'm older.: You're going to hurt yourself because you're older, in general in life. You're going to hurt yourself less because you're older when you strength train and you get stronger. 

Any movement can be better than no movement though. But if you had the opportunity to pick a route that best suits your unique life, wouldn't you?
