[S1 E43] Scary or Not: Is making the shift to being healthier overwhelming for you?

As we continue our "Scary or Not" series, it's time to shine a light on one of the most haunting apparitions of all - making significant and lasting changes in your nutrition (and lifestyle).

The fear of change is real and it's essential that we recognize the challenges and fears associated with these transformations. In today’s episode, coach Kailes challenges you to shed the societal norms dictating what's "good" or "bad" for us, and to break free from rigid childhood food rules. Moreover, she dives deep into debunking prevalent nutritional myths, revealing the truth about foods often misunderstood. She also highlights the importance of identifying both external and internal influences that affect our choices and cravings, as well as seeking support from friends, family, or even a coach as you navigate your journey towards healthier choices.

A nourishing lifestyle isn't solely about counting calories; it's about seeing food as quality fuel, making slow and steady shifts, and understanding the importance of macronutrients. So, remember, it's not about following strict rules; it's about finding what works best for you and nourishing your mind, body, and soul.

Quotes:

In a world that profits off your overconsumption materially and nutritionally, it can be, honestly, quite a scary attempt to switch towards a more health-promoting nutritional lifestyle.

Making the shift to taking care of your body through your nutrition is single-handedly the best thing you could do for yourself and your family for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of food nowadays that isn't food.  It's food to be made into a sort of food.

What foods are you adverse to from childhood? Or what foods are you adverse to because of what people taught you when you were a child that you haven't really questioned as an adult?

Knowing that food is built to be hyper-palatable, aka engineered to make us crave more and eat more, can help you understand what foods to probably avoid.

Instead of taking things away, add nourishment in. So, think about your diet right now - eat the same as you are right now and add more protein, add a side of veggies, add more fruits that have antioxidant properties like blueberries or blackberries.

All we have in the long run is our health. Our body is the only place we have to live, and we only get one shot. So choose your circle wisely.
