[S1 E46] Health and Wellness Habits that Actually Work: Faves of 2023

Major health swaps I made in 2023 (some you probably never expected!)

I'm beyond thrilled to dive into today's episode with you because it's packed with some unique health swaps I've personally embraced. I often get questions from clients and listeners about navigating the sea of health advice, and I totally get it – there's a ton out there, not all backed by science.

In my 15 years in the industry, I've been a science nerd, loving insights from brilliant minds with both study-based and real-world approaches to health. So, today, I want to do something special – sharing the top things I've incorporated into my life in 2023. I plan on making this an annual thing, so you'll get a peek into what I believe can contribute to a healthier, happier, and longer life.

I believe in the concept that how we care for ourselves today impacts our future selves, a core principle of preventative healthcare – something I'm passionate about. And I want you to know that I'm in the trenches with you, navigating the overwhelming world of health advice. It's tough, especially in a society bombarding us with recommendations. My hope is that today’s episode helps you make the right choice and guides you toward embracing positive and impactful health changes in your own life.

So, buckle up and join me as we explore some fascinating health tips you might not have considered.

Quotes:

I love the concept of thinking of how you take care of yourself now impacts your future self. That's basically the basis of preventative health care.

We are just inundated with buy this, buy that, use this, use that. And the more I mature in my understanding of wellness, the more I learn that we've been spoon-fed with what magazine covers have told us or what paid dietitians and doctors online have told us. And it's really tough to navigate those waters on your own and think for yourself. It's so much easier just to pay somebody to tell you what to do.

I like to only educate as well-rounded as possible because I don't want to be polarized like the rest of the world. Polarization sells. That's why a lot of people are polarized on their topics and opinions, even if they ultimately don't really feel that way.

Every single food item you eat communicates to your body, and then your body communicates to you whether or not you want to listen.

You have a lot of power over your health and you just have to learn the tools and implement them. Become mindful.

When we support each other with more knowledge about our bodies, we all thrive.
